This week's session navigated through the writing process and explored its connection with the 6+1 Traits, I gained insightful knowledge that is essential to encouraging aspiring writers.
The writing process is more than just a sequence, it's a dynamic journey of discovery and expression. From brainstorming to revising, each step plays a pivotal role in shaping a student's ability to communicate effectively. The emphasis on pre-writing activities not only stimulates creativity but also lays a solid foundation for the subsequent stages.
The 6+1 Traits became clear as a guiding principle when the complexities of excellent writing were untangled. Ideas, Organization, Voice, Word Choice, Sentence Fluency, Conventions, and Presentation are the characteristics that serve as the cornerstones for the growth of writers who are diverse. When I compared these characteristics to the writing process, I saw how well they worked together to provide a comprehensive method of writing training.
Hi shannese, as I read your blog, I have understood and can relate to the connections between the writing process and the 6 plus one traits of writing. For me I have discovered that the 6 plus one traits is a guide for the writing process which is easier to follow during the steps of the writing process to bring you to the point of having a good piece. It is also good on behalf of the teacher as it guides guidelines of assessing I like the quote "For a writing piece to dance on the lines of a blank page is has to go through the writing process." It's very important to take students through the journey of the writing process for them to be successful. Thank you for sharing.
